A betrayal of principles

Thatcher was true to herself except in two respects. In her early years, even though she understood the significance of climate change - as evidenced by her speeches at the Royal Society, UN and others and later, helping set up the Hadley Centre - she reversed her attitude once she was no longer PM when others might have been encouraged to follow her lead.
I don't blame the current Tories as much for only paying lip service to the environment , they can't really help their blinkered world view, but Thatcher knew.
And because she knew, there lay the hypocrisy.

In later years, when her foundation was in financial difficulties, she sold her soul to Philip Morris. The ultimate betrayal of her principles - up in smoke.
